EMIS Web Pathfinder
EMIS LV is the most widely used GP system in NHS Bristol, NHS North
Somerset and NHS South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), currently comprising of
83 out of 118 practices. There are a small but significant number of PCS
users.
EMIS Web is the new EMIS system upgrade for both PCS and LV practices
that promises benefits to practices, commissioners and PCTs. The
benefits include:
·
Improved patient safety
·
improved practice business processes
·
improved patient experience
·
improved data security
·
Improved access to information
·
Interoperability with other systems
·
Reduced cost to the PCTs
A recent survey of practices show that many EMIS practices are keen to
go ahead and migrate to EMIS web immediately and the rest are generally
keen to follow once they have a clear idea of what is involved in the
upgrade process.
With this view, Avon IM&T Consortium has begun a Pathfinder across BNSSG.
Five Practices have been selected to take part in this process. The
first practices should be live with EMIS Web by the end of the year,
with the others following shortly afterwards.
Following a successful Pathfinder and evaluation, EMIS Web will be
rolled out across BNSSG next year.
